In March 2021, We established contact with our Kenyan client, Rodger. At that time, he was planning a farm project. He intended to grow snow peas on a plot of land near a river and export them to Europe. To ensure the quality and management efficiency of the snow peas, Rodger decided to use a drip irrigation system.
After thoroughly understanding his cultivation plan, the conditions of soil and water, we provided suggestions for necessary purchasing products. Regarding the specification of drip tape, we integrated the purchasing habits of our other Kenyan clients and recommended that he use 0.4mm wall thickness drip tape.
There are two reasons for this choice : it makes less destruction caused by local small animals and birds, and Rodger required drip tape’ lifespan to continue at least two years.
After deep communication, Rodger purchased drip irrigation products from Plentirain, including drip tape and fittings, PE pipes and fittings, PP compression fittings, valves, air release valves, filters and so on.
In June of the same year, the irrigation products arrived in Kenya. Rodger began laying the drip irrigation system and maintained communication with us. He gave us feedback on every step of the irrigation project—from the initial installation to the growth, maturation, and harvesting of the snow peas, and their export to Europe. Plentirain’s team promptly solved Rodger’s questions during his installation and usage processes. Meanwhile ,we were honored to see the creation of new plantations on the distant African continent.
It was a impressive experience to see our products contribute to a Bumper Harvest for our client, it makes Plentirain team filling with a deep sense of accomplishment.
When the materials arrived at the warehouse, Rodger immediately organized the workers to begin installation. The system’s main line is buried underground; Rodger explained that this was to prevent elephants trampling it.
The system was put into operation, the snow pea seedlings thrived under the the irrigation system. Kenya’s favorable climate, along with its clean air and water sources, ensured the high quality of the snow peas
The first land yielded a bountiful harvest; In October (local time), the snow peas was being picked and exported to Europe. Rodger noted that the local climate is suitable for cultivation, allowing for year-round harvesting. After a bumper harvest in the first area, he immediately began developing a second planting area. Ultimately, he plans to establish three plots that will harvest in rotation, ensuring a continuous supply of fresh vegetables for European customers.
